Spain make it past France

Issue # 1

Welcome to the first issue of ScoreSnippet where we use machine learning to predict the upcoming Euros. Stay tuned as we will also tackle friendlies and the Premier League 2024/2025 season as well!

What a thriller this Euros has been, from penalties knocking Portugal out of the tournament to dark horses Turkiye making it deep into the tournament. Its not over yet though. France has looked shaky lately with goals in normal time being hard to come by for them. Coupled with Mbappe’s injury, this gives the other teams a great opportunity to capitalize.

Here are our predictions!

Spain make it past France

Spain have been a high scoring team throughout this tournament and this is a strong predictor for their overcoming success over France. On the other hand, France have at times seemed reluctant to score even. Coupled with the the increase in form from Spain, decrease in form from France, Spain looks like they will take this and move on to the final.

Spain’s aggressive game comes from their high shooting and fouls committed. Teams that play Spain are tested both physically and psychologically. This is something France has not coped with well throughout this tournament, committing low fouls and not taking on as many shots.

Netherlands are back on top

Netherlands have been on fire lately. Simmons has been creating beautiful chances throughout the tournament and does not show signs of stopping. The data supports this as well! England, however, have been sneaking past their opponents and it looks like their luck is about to run out. So far England have not faced real quality teams in the knockout stages and this will be the first time they are truly tested.

Our model says Netherlands will find a goal to make it to the final. Their passing and chances created demolish that of England’s. Netherlands also boast a stronger possession history which is something England might not be able to rely on!

Our Predictions

Spain vs France

2-1

Netherlands vs England

1-0
